Latest Meaningful Use Updates and Attestation Deadlines

CMS recently released important changes to the Meaningful Use program that take effect for reporting in 2015 and beyond. As part of these changes, the original Stage 2 Menu Measure 6: Report Specific Cases has been updated to become one of three measures of Stage 2 Objective 10: Public Health and has been renamed as Specialized Registry Reporting. Providers will likely need to actively engage with a Specialized Registry in order to meet the Public Health Reporting Objective and Meaningful Use (MU) in 2016. Carefully selecting and registering with a specialized registry by the March 11, 2016 deadline is the first step to meeting this requirement.

The original Stage 2 Core Measure 15: Summary of Care has been updated to Stage 2 Objective 5: Health Information Exchange. This measure requires that you provide a summary of care record when you transition or refer a patient to another setting or provider. The EP who transitions or refers their patient to another setting of care or provider of care must use CEHRT to create a summary of care record and electronically transmit such summary to a receiving provider for more than 10 % of transitions of care and referrals.
